Part One of a Five Part Video Series

Sadly, virgin stands of longleaf pine fell victim to “progress” many years ago. This is why Goodwin is so adamant about promoting sustainable design. Our good friend Tom Staley talks about his efforts to restore the longleaf pine forest in this five-part series.

Part one – just under two and a half minutes long – talks about the replanting of seedlings and re-establishment of longleaf pine.  You will see the growth of a six-year old tree and also take a brief tour of Tom’s 80-acre property, which he bought to help keep the area free from the development of new homes.  Tom has cleared out some oak and other trees to make room for a “new” longleaf pine forest.

Part two talks more about the area, which was cleared in the 1940s.
