Goodwin Company was honored to welcome Ms. Lisa Mensah – the Undersecretary of USDA Rural Development – for a tour of our facility. Ms. Mensah was nominated by President Barack Obama and confirmed by the U.S. Senate in November 2014. She provides leadership for three USDA agencies charged with improving the economic well being of rural America: the Rural Housing Service, the Rural Utilities Service and the Rural Business-Cooperative Service.
Ms. Mensah traveled from Washington D.C. to Florida and visited various Rural Development projects, which included Goodwin Company, and to meet with Rural Development State Office and Area Office staff.
Goodwin Company received a guaranteed Business and Industry loan from Rural Development, which has resulted in the retention of 19 full and one part time job.
Ms. Mensah was joined by a number of other dignitaries including Mr. Richard Malchek, USDA State Director, Mr. Joe Mueller, USDA’s Rural Business Cooperative Program Director, Ms. Susan Campbell, Loan Specialist for the USDA, Robert “Hutch” Hutchinson, Vice Chair of Alachua County Commission representing District 3, and Ms. Janice Donaldson, Regional Director, Florida Small Business Development Center at UNF, among others.
Our recently recovered, centuries-old giant cypress was on site and provided the perfect backdrop for a group photo.
We enjoyed hosting the tour and want to extend a special thank you to Ms. Mensah and everyone who took time to come out and share this special occasion with us!
