If you have never visited Paynes Prairie Preserve, you are missing something truly spectacular.  Goodwin is fortunate to have this natural beauty right in our backyard (literally!).  Green building and preservation are the backbones of what we do.  In fact, a large part of the uplands within the prairie were one stands of longleaf pine many, many years ago.

Paynes Prairie Preserve recently re-opened its newly remodeled visitor’s center designed to provide an educational tour of the history and environmental importance of the prairie. Goodwin provided the River-Recovered® Heartpine for the new alligator exhibit.

David Beach created the structure using 65sf of material.  This project was important to Goodwin not only because we enjoy doing museum and cultural center type projects, but we feel it is important to do our part to support Paynes Prairie.

Enjoy this video of the grand opening of the visitor’s center earlier this month!
