On the shores of lovely Lake Beresford in DeLand, Florida sits the Sandra Stetson Aquatic Center at Stetson University. This 11,000 square foot contemporary building, designed by Bridgehampton, New York architect Preston Phillips and built by Charles Perry Partners, Incorporated, is the home to both the Stetson Institute of Water and Environmental Resilience and the university’s rowing team, the Hatters. Designed to resemble an overturned rowing scull, the cambered ceiling boasts nearly 4,000 square feet a 5-1/4″ River-Recovered® Select heart cypress center-match tongue-and-groove paneling. The paneling is installed on both the interior and exterior. The interior portion is finished with Diamond 7 and the exterior with Diamond oil. It’s absolutely stunning. A big thanks to Daytona Beach News and Journal photographer, Lola Gomez, for the fabulous photos. Go Hatters!
