River-RecoveredⓇ Heart Cypress Character
Heart Cypress is one of only a few remaining prehistoric species. Logged 150+ years ago and presumed lost, these original-growth Bald Cypress trees commonly lived to be 1,000 to 1,500 years old. They were the true giants of the southeastern swamps, towering over 100 feet.
Grain: Character is a blend of arching grain patterns and vertical pinstripes with at least 8 growth rings and up to 80 per inch. The grade can have some machine defects, and face checks or cracks. Also, some Pecky areas, face cracks and checks.
Knots: Knots of any size allowed; may have a few loose knots
Color: Warm honey through cinnamon tan to light chocolate tones. Can be stained for more consistent color.
Heart: 99.9% heart content
Hardness: 690 on the Janka hardness scale, comparable to Douglas Fir
